Managing cash flow is an integral part of operating a business. Below are 4 time saving quick invoicing tricks to help you save time when invoicing in Xero.
- You can enter a new customer in Xero without having to add all the details of the customer such as address, ABN and other contact details before creating an invoice. Unlike MYOB where you have to enter a card file for a customer before creating an invoice. This feature in Xero allows you to create a new customer simultaneously while drafting an invoice once approved you can enter those details to the customers file at a later date.
- Calculating and entering dates in Xero invoices are made easier through the use of quick key codes. To enter todays date instead of manually typing the date you can enter a “t” for today’s date.
- Similarly calculating the due date for an invoice can also create a headache simply type + and the number of days you would like your invoice to be due. For instance if you have a 14 day billing period simply enter +14 in the due date field.
- You can have multiple invoice templates in Xero, This can be very useful if you have or different payment options for different clients. To add a new invoice template in Xero go to Settings, General settings, Invoice settings and select New branding theme. Once you have created and saved your new branding theme you will then have the ability to change the invoice template per client. This feature is similar to the layout function used in MYOB. To change the branding theme click on the branding drop down and select the invoice template you wish to use.
