Stephen Mason – Principal
As the firm’s principal, Stephen has over 30 years experience in the accounting industry. He obtained his Bachelor of Business (credit) in 1983 from the NSW Institute of Technology (now UTS) and in 1984 he became a Member of CPA Australia, then obtained his Public Practice Certificate in 1988.
After working for 10 years in both accounting practices and industry, Stephen established ‘Lister Mason & Co’ with Jeff Lister at Sutherland in July 1989. Two years later he took full ownership of the practice and in April 2002 the practice was moved to new premises at Engadine and re-branded to ‘Lister Mason’ as it is known today. In fact Lister Mason turned 30 on 1st July 2019.
Stephen is also a Certified Financial Planner – he became involved in the financial planning industry in 1990 with Lonsdale Financial Planning Group and qualified as a Certified Financial Planner in 2000.
With the help of a dedicated team of staff, Stephen has grown the accounting business successfully over the last 20 years. It is now recognised as one of the Shire’s leading tax and business advisory firms known for offering personal, straightforward and accessible advice and for helping individuals and business owners alike to reach their full financial potential.
On a lighter note, Stephen is an avid Cronulla Sharks loyal supporter. His dreams came true in October 2016 when his beloved Sharkies won the NRL Grand Final, at which he was a spectator. At last he knows he can die a happy man!
Peter Gill – Business Services Manager
Peter joined Lister Mason in September 2016 as the Business Services Manager.
Peter has over 18 years of experience in chartered accounting firms in the city and the suburbs, after graduating from Wollongong University in 1999. He has extensive experience in business services, advice to high wealth individuals and self-managed superannuation funds and intends to complete a Diploma in Financial Planning in 2017.
Peter enjoys fishing, reading and chess. He also loves the fact that he can walk to and from work, as he resides in Engadine, together with his wife and two sons, who attend local schools.
He’s also an avid St George Dragons fan, which gives rise to much ribbing by his colleagues now that he works in the Shire.
Ian Linton – Senior Accountant
Ian has worked for Lister Mason for a total of 14 years.
After completing his Bachelor of Building at UNSW he completed a Graduate Certificate in Accounting and shortly after completed his studies to become a CPA.
Ian has worked for small to large privately-owned businesses over a diverse range of industries and he likes to adopt a very hands on approach. He also has a keen interest in technology and is considered the Office IT expert!
Outside of work he is a passionate Cronulla Sutherland Sharks fan and enjoys keeping fit by mountain bike riding. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Patricia Glenn – Bookkeeper
Patricia (Trish) joined the Lister Mason team at the end of March 2016 and has over 33 years’ experience in the accounting industry. In 2015 she completed the required courses and attained her BAS Agent Registration.
Patricia enjoys processing and set up of accounting software such as Xero, MYOB and Banklink and assisting clients with problem solving as well as training in accounts and payroll processing and preparation of Activity statements. She also assists the Accountants with the preparation of Income Tax Returns.
Prior to joining Lister Mason, Trish worked in accounting firms for all of her working life, apart from being a stay at home mum when her four children were young.
Trish is a (very) staunch Sydney Swans AFL supporter and is a volunteer support member of the Rural Fire Service in the Shire.
Renee Larsen – Accountant
Renee joined the Lister Mason team in July 2017. She has over 29 years experience in the accounting and financial industry.
After completing her Bachelor of Commerce, she worked in Brisbane where she completed her Graduate Diploma in Advanced Accounting and became a Chartered Accountant.
During the 90’s she spent four years working for Salomon Brothers (now Citigroup) in London as a Financial Controller, while squeezing in as much travel as possible. She returned to Australia in 2000 and chose to raise her three children in the Shire whilst working part time in the accounting industry with local firms. Just recently her husband’s work took them to India for a few years where she helped raise funds for disadvantaged children, volunteered at local ashrams and helped teach English in the local government school.
She is looking forward to using her experience to work with you in the future. Her family are avid NQ Cowboys supporters, but please don’t hold that against her!
Chris Mason – Administration
Chris is Lister Mason’s Office Manager and she has over 30 years experience working in accounting firms.
She oversees all office duties and assists with following up tax matters. Chris is proud to have had a key role in building the practice along with husband, Stephen, into what has become a very successful business and she prides herself on getting to know each and every client and offering a high level of personal service.
Chris is a keen movie maker using iMovie software. This has been evidenced by the many ‘productions’ friends and family have enjoyed over last few years. She exercise daily with her outdoor training group and absolutely loves travelling and new experiences.
Catherine Parr – Administration
Cath has been with the firm for over 14 years in her role as Administration Manager.
She has over 30 year’s experience working in various industries, including managing executive suites where she gained experience in many different aspects of small business.
Her diverse and extensive experience in administration is invaluable to Lister Mason.
Outside of work, Cath loves running for exercise (when her knees allow!). She also loves gardening and home projects. Cath’s passion for her beloved St George Dragons is unstoppable.
