Recently, Stephen and I travelled to Far North Queensland. As part of our trip we flew from Cairns to Bamaga (a 2 hour flight or 10 hour drive). Bamaga is the closest town to Cape York and is an aboriginal community. We stayed at the Cape York Peninsula Lodge.
It has been a bucket list item of mine for some time, to stand on the northernmost tip of mainland Australia – of course wearing my Lister Mason hat! I have to say that this area is one of the most stunning places I have ever seen, featuring every imaginable shade of blue in the water. While we were standing there a Dugong as well as a Turtle swam swam by…
An interesting fact is that New Guinea is only around 150kms kms due north from the point we are standing. We were also informed that the crocodiles are more than capable of swimming this distance!
If you would like any advice on how to get to Cape York, where to stay and what to do while there, just ask. If you would like a Lister Mason branded hat, just mention when you are next in the office. We would love you to take a photo of yourself wearing same at your next favourite holiday destination.
