Some clients may have registered for “myGov”.
This is an Australian Government website where you can link government services to your account, i.e. Medicare, Australian Taxation Office, etc.
We had a client this week who was waiting on some important information from the ATO. This client rang our office enquiring as to whether we had received this notice. As this client was registered with myGov, and had linked the ATO as a service, all correspondence from the ATO would now go to their myGov account. The client was unaware that this had happened as they did not receive a notification to suggest this.
If you do have a myGov account, and have linked a service (i.e. ATO) please ensure that you request notification my email or sms as follows:
- Sign into your myGov account
- Click settings
- Click inbox preferences
- Then choose your preference for notification
Please remember, as your tax agents we will no longer receive correspondence from the ATO on your behalf if you have registered with myGov, and have linked this service to your account.
