Recently I received an email – apparently from Stephen Mason (my employer) stating the following:
From: Stephen Mason
To: Patricia Glenn
Subject: Update
“I need to update my pay check direct deposit info.”
To which I replied:
“Did you mean this email to come to me?”
The reply:
“Yes I need to change my direct deposit details for next pay. Can you make the change now?”
This email WAS NOT from Stephen, my employer, even though it did look valid. The point here is NEVER EVER disclose your private and confidential personal information to anyone over the Internet unless you are sure it is from a trusted reliable source.
