Bill to Amend Private Health Insurance Act 2007

Did you realise that the rebate on Private Hospital Health Insurance is   no longer payable on the component of your premium that is your Lifetime Health Cover loading?
If you are paying a Lifetime Health Cover loading (LHC) on top of your   Hospital cover from your Private Health Insurer (eg HCF), you will only   receive the rebate as a percentage of the premium paid, not inclusive of the   LHC, by the Government    when income tested.
This amendment from the Government is to be used as an incentive for those approaching 30 years of age to take up Hospital cover before they are charged   with the LHC loading. These LHC loading charges  can reach a maximum of   70% of your premium.
